My Card for the Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge

Good morning everyone! I've made a monochromatic card for the Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge. I thought I sort of knew what a monochromatic color scheme should be, but I did a bit of research to make sure I had it right. In the process, I found this really helpful color scheme chooser web site:

I chose the base color that I wanted (brown) and the chose the monochromatic color scheme option, and it came up with this:

I was a little surprised at the range! How did that pinky color get in there? But then I thought, what is brown but a really, really, really dark pink? So, anyway, I went through my stash and found some colors that matched fairly well from my new My Mind's Eye paper stack. The stamp is from the Whiff of Joy Spring Kit, Birdie Love. I used my Martha Stewart arch edge punch and leaf punches and my Spellbinders circle dies. Also I used my new Cuttlebug Roses embossing folder (love that thing!--here's where I found it on this side of the pond.) The ribbon, pearls and butterfly came from the blog candy I won from Lena Katrine's blog. And the flowers are from Wild Orchid. So, here it is! It was really fun to make, and I learned something new, too! Thanks Fussy and Fancy ladies! I've got DD Greta hooked on the color palette chooser thingy, so who know what she'll come up with! Have a wonderful day! Lisa

*** Update! Greta did in fact use the color palatte chooser thingy, and came up with a pretty card! Won't you go have a look-see?! Greta's Blog  Lisa :-) ***

My Card for Just Magnolia and Magnolia Down Under!

Hello everyone! Just a quick post to enter the Just Magnolia (in the garden) and Magnolia Down Under (embossing) challenges this week. Both were inspiring, and I had fun making this card. I used my new Cuttlebug Roses embossing folder that is a European edition, I believe. I also used a butterfly from the blog candy that I got from Lena Katrine at Sketch Saturday--pretty! Thanks for looking and happy stampin'! Lisa

Just Another Cute Card--Not for Any Challenge in Particular!

Hi again! I made this card for Friday Sketchers and Just Magnolia, but I didn't finish it time! Oh well, here it is anyway! :-) Have a great weekend! Lisa

***Update--I gave this card today to a really nice lady that works at Hobby Lobby. She is going through a pretty big rough spot as her mom is in Hospice. She really loved the card, and we had a good laugh because we said "so this is what I do with all that goofy stuff I buy here!"

My Card for Sketch Saturday and Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenges

Hello everyone! I'm not sure this is an actual "first," but it's a first for me. Two sketches on the same card! I had so much fun making this card! Both of the sketches were really fun. Thanks for the inspiration, ladies!

The photo above shows the front of my card, and that is the sketch for Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge.

And here's the inside of my card, and that's the sketch for this week's Sketch Saturday

And here's a close-up of the inside panel with the sketch.

I put a place to write something on the back. . .

This card also is for another challenge:

The images are digis from Fred She Said. The swirls are Flourishes Flourishing from Simon Says Stamp.

Thanks for looking and happy stampin'! Lisa

My Card for Sketch Saturday and Magnolia Down Under!

Good morning! DD Greta and I worked in the stamp room yesterday afternoon, and we came up with some fun cards using some of our favorite stamps and some new papers! Greta ordered these black roses from Wild Orchid Crafts, and was unsure they would look right on a card when she got them. They're so black, she said! I thought they'd be perfect on my pirate card, though. We sprayed them with Glimmermist, which really looks wonderful on them. (Of course it doesn't show too well in the photo.)  I really love this little boy stamp. I don't have too many stamps for boys, and this is perfect for all sorts of occasions! But, he is so sweet, I think I may have to get the girl pirate from Magnolia to go with him! :-)

Anyway, I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges this week:
Crafty Angels--my favorite stamp
Create 4 Fun--black and white plus one other color

Thank you for all of the great inspiration! Have a great day! Lisa

Fun Digis for OWH and a Few Cards I Made with Them!

Happy Saturday! I wanted to show these really cute digi stamps that are over on Cheryl's Blog, Don't Worry, Be Scrappi! (Don't you love the name of her blog?!) I couldn't decide which image to use first, so I just made some of nearly all of them--so cute! I found out about them last weekend on the OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop. Cheryl's blog was right before my DD Greta's blog, and Cheryl has such a wonderful site! She is letting you download these digis for free for use for Operation Write Home cards. The camel's name is Oscar, what a good name! Cheryl is giving away some very nice blog candy through Sunday evening. I really enjoyed coloring these images, and they are very whimsical and would be great any hero cards, or cards for soldiers to send back home. Thank you, Cheryl, for sharing these with everyone!

Cheryl, I'd like to enter your blog candy draw, and I'll post on Mr. Linky. Thanks for the chance to win, but especially for these wonderful digis! Thanks for looking and happy stampin'! Lisa

My Card for Sketch Saturday!

Hello again! I made a card for this week's Sketch Saturday challenge. They are doing a sort of blog hop, and I wanted to be able to play along! :-) This was a fun sketch, and I get to use my new Magnolia stamp. Really cute! Thanks for looking and happy stampin'! Lisa

Our Card for Delightful Inspirations

Hello! Just a quick post to show you the card my DD Sophie and I made for the Delightful Inspirations Challenge Blog. I felt bad this week because I've been working to finish the money holder for the wedding this weekend, I hadn't had time to make a card for Delightful Inspirations! But Sophie stepped right up to the plate and helped me finish one to send to OWH, using the sweet sunflower image from this week. Thanks Sophie!

I've enjoyed using the D2D images to make cards for OWH. Looking forward to making more! Thanks, Faith for the inspiration! Lisa :-)

Yet Another Money Holder for a Friend's Wedding and Two Challenges

Hello everyone! I've been at work the last couple of days making another money holder, this time for a wedding. This is the wedding of one of my husband's former students. A while back, we got a phone call from this former student, and she asked my husband to give her away at her wedding. Hans was so surprised and honored of course, but has asked her was she sure? Didn't she have another man in her life that is closer to her than he was? She said that he had been the man most like a father to her in her whole life. Wow, can you imagine having that kind of impact on college students? My husband is fully awesome, and he helps so many young men and women be all they want to be! This young woman is from Jamaica, and is a very bright student. She is now attending law school, partly because she was a member of Hans' Moot Court team.

A close-up of the inside, the part that fulfills the challenges, for the most part!

I made this card for the happy couple, and hope to slip a little $$ in the pocket for them. This is the same couple for whom Greta made her recipe book. She is to be in the wedding also. Here she is in her dress--so grown up! :-)

Greta and I have both owe our inspiration to the Whiff of Joy Tutorial Blog. There are some wonderful ideas to try on there, people! We got both the money holder and the recipe book ideas from the WOJ Tutorial blog. Yay!

Here's a photo of the card closed up.

I made a place for us to sign the card on the back.

So, without further ado, I would like to enter the money holder in the following challenges. This was kind of an organic project, that went where it wanted to, regardless of the restraints I put upon it. So I'll say that the money holder is loosely based on both of these challenges. I hope I did enough to qualify, but if not, I still think I came up with a really pretty project as a result of keeping the challenges in mind. Thanks for the inspiration, ladies!
